How to kill Siebel process

Hi Folks,

Here is an Interesting tip shared by my Colleague Venus Hindocha about how to kill your Siebel.exe Process by avoiding the hassle of going to task manager and killing it there.

you can use the foll command from Start -> Run or put it in a batch file

taskkill /F /IM siebel.exe

Some theory:

Taskkill: Ends one or more tasks or processes. Processes can be killed by process ID or image name.


Syntax:
taskkill [/s Computer] [/u Domain\User [/p Password]]] [/fi FilterName] [/pid ProcessID]|[/im ImageName] [/f][/t]

/f : Specifies that process(es) be forcefully terminated. This parameter is ignored for remote processes; all remote processes are forcefully terminated.


/IM (ImageName): Specifies the image name of the process to be terminated. Use the wildcard (*) to specify all image names.

The best thing while working on siebel is you are never short of options. Recently we had requirement of updating a Service request from contact. Finally we did that using "EAI Siebel Adapter" business service. However during that time i came across another business service "FINS Data Transfer Utilities" popularly known as DTU business service. As i was not having prior knowledge of it going by the rule of not learning swimming lessons while drowning i decided not to go for it. Lately i have tried to explore this service and trust me it can do wonders. Here is a sample example update of Service Request from contact. Profile Attributes and Open UI

Yes, Profile Attributes! As the ever attentive, up-to-date Siebel CRM expert that you are when you read this, you know that in Siebel Open UI (since version 15), it is no longer allowed/supported to  set  Profile Attributes from browser-side script. But  getting  them is not a problem, since the  GetProfileAttr  function works perfectly fine.
